Justice Poteete served as Cherokee Nation Tribal Council Member representing the Three Rivers District from 1991-1999.He also served as Executive Director of the Arkansas Riverbed Authority for several years before being appointed to the position of Supreme Court Justice in 2007. His term as a Justice with the Cherokee Nation Supreme Court ended December 31, 2016.
